It's amazing how fast the fantasy football season goes, but I'm liking this bowl game thing.
Creamers @ Wild Hogs (League Championship Game)
An interesting contrast between these two teams as Pietsch's weakspot is his RBs, while Randy's is his WRs. That's not saying that they don't have good players there-it's just the weakest part of each guy's lineup. For those who don't think that pickups are important to fantasy football, look at Randy's lineup. Only his RBs (McGahee & Westbrook), Braylon Edwards & the Chargers D were on his team when we left Buffalo Wild Wings. He has positioned himself in this game by making the right moves (Earnest Graham, Kurt Warner) at the right times. For Pietsch, he's in familiar territory. His track record in this league speaks for itself and this could be the year the Creamers and Packers win it all. I've bet against him before and been burned (Favre or Pietsch you ask? Both.) so I'm not going to this time.

Daniels should take down the Skins in this one, but Tony Romo could very well explode against the Panthers. That one kicks off in about 45 minutes and is the main reason I'm posting these picks now. If I wait and Romo sucks it up and I pick Daniels then I appear as though I'm taking the easy way out.

Kamikaze Maddogs @ Horned Puffins (Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl)
This one should be the 2004 Draft Drama Bowl. After all, Scott and I discussed Philip Rivers and Eli Manning the night of the draft more than the Chargers and Giants did back in April of '04. Where did it get us? Well, not where we wanted it to get us---kinda like the Chargers and Giants. I think Eli Manning is afraid of cold weather.

You kidding me? Pietsch has made it to the finals yet again, thanks in large part to a banged-up Shaun Alexander getting the start over Fred Taylor. Hey Hud, your bye weeks were over! I'm guessing that Hud would like to have the #1 overall pick in next year's draft back for Alexander. Has there ever been a bigger busted deal than that one? I didn't think so. Having said all that, if Randy Moss totals 1 more yard, yes one, Hud wins. Ouch.

Another first year owner in the finals. I think that less is more in this league. The guys who've been in the league tend to overthink things, whereas the rookies seem to find their way to the title game. This is twice in three years. Randy may need to stick with the Chargers D though, considering that the Seahawks D scored...zero points this week. Zero. What would the odds in Vegas been that a team would
win its MVFFL semifinal game and get no points from its D? 50-1? 100-1? I'm thinking that Troy, like TO, would've liked Tony Romo to be as mindful of the Redskins as he was Jessica Simpson. There are a lot of fantasy owners not real happy with Romo today.

It's tempting to give this one to Chad Johnson after watching him pout all night Saturday night and then drop an easy TD at the end of the game that would've given Troy 13 points, but I gotta go with Romo. If he does anything Sunday Troy has a chance. 229 total yards and no TDs won't keep Ms. Simpson around long.

The first of two classics, Pietsch has made his way into the league semifinals yet again. He had to be on his knees begging the fantasy gods watching Drew Brees torch the Falcons Monday night. Brees' big game made it a lot closer than Pietsch would've liked. A balanced attack for the Creamers was the key, despite a monster game from Jason Witten, who appears to have entered keeper status.
Wild Hogs 113, Buffet Boys 100
The rookie has made his way to the final four, thanks to his own balanced attack, not to mention Adrian Peterson's 3 total yards against the 49ers. 3 yards? Hoffman may be wondering if he's a keeper after all. To ride him all year and get 3 yards out of him against the Niners in the playoffs has to be one of the most disappointing moments in fantasy history. Seriously.
MVFFL Player of the Week-Brett Favre
For a guy who was going to hand the ball off all day to take it easy on his throwing shoulder, Favre didn't disappoint fantasy owners who started him this week. For the day he finished with 266 total yards and 2 TDs, good for 15 total points.

A pretty even matchup, it could very well come down to how well Drew Brees plays on MNF against the Falcons. Al has better RBs, but they have tougher matchups than Pietsch's do. I think that's the difference.

Week 13 recap
Sorry for the long delay in posting the recap, but when your season is over there's not a whole heck of a lot of motivation to talk fantasy football. At least the MVFFL isn't college football. Seriously. What a joke! It wasn't that long ago that I watched twice the amount of football on Saturdays that I do on Sundays. Now, I couldn't tell you the last time I was even interested in what happened on a Saturday. I just always root for the guys in the top 10 to lose, just to screw up the BCS to a point that they have to go to a playoff. Having said all that, congrats to the Illini on getting the Rose Bowl bid. The oddsmakers aren't giving them much of a chance (they're +13.5 right now, at least that's what I'm hearing), but I think it'll be a much closer game than that. Think about it-they have experienced winning a big game (at Ohio State) and they have much better athletes than most folks realize. If Ron Zook can do anything, he can recruit. In case you forgot, Urban Meyer won a National Championship last year with Zook's players. Enough college football talk.

What a stinker this turned out to be. The Puffins forgot to show up, making this a three team contest. After Randy blew everyone's doors off Sunday, the only drama was who was going to take the other wild card spot-Pietsch or Daniels. I could go into a long, drawn out story about the game, but I'll get to the point: Pietsch won on the last play of the game of MNF. The bomb that Kyle Boller threw that was caught around the 5-yard line cost Daniels the Patriots points for holding a team under 200 yards passing. Talk about a punch to the gut! Pietsch, I need the winning lotto numbers for tonight's drawing. I believe the jackpot is up to around $100 million. You lucky POS.

I feel like I need Don Cheadle doing some intense intro here since our playoffs have arrived, but since he wasn't available I figured I'd get the next best thing-Rotney. Well, it seems as though he got shot the other night, so he couldn't make it either. That's too bad.

This is sort of like Playoff Survivor (even though I've never watched an episode of Survivor, I'm assuming that this is what it's like)-score a lot of points or go home. As always, it's all about the matchups. Here's who I like-the Hogs and the Double Down. I think that of the four teams duking it out, the Hogs have the best matchups. I like Daniels, if for no other reason, because he has the Patriots D going against an absolutely terrible offense in the Ravens. For the Creamers and Puffins, it's gonna be tough to beat Randy or Daniels in a shootout like this, but I've been wrong before.
